During your initial consultation for Juvederm Vancouver aesthetic experts at the Workman Center for Beautiful Skin & Bodies will instruct you on how to prepare for your treatment. This will include avoiding any medications that can prolong bleeding, i.e., aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs) at least a week prior to your treatment to reduce the risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection site. You can download the forms to fill out regarding your medical history, including any allergies you may have or medications you may take.
We will go through the procedure step by step and work with you to develop a customized plan for your treatment, which will be designed to address your unique concerns and provide you with results that will blend seamlessly with your own natural appearance. When you come in for your treatment, we will carefully mark the injection sites. No local or general anesthesia is required for this procedure, but some patients may choose to have a topical numbing gel applied to minimize any discomfort. We will examine the soft tissue of your face to assess the depth of wrinkles and folds to determine your treatment. Once the gel is injected, you will see the changes occur in real-time.

The injection process takes about an hour and the results are immediate with minimal recovery or downtime. You can step into your doctor's office for treatment and return to your normal activities afterward.
With a Juvéderm procedure, you should see an immediate improvement in the treatment areas with most patients needing a single treatment to achieve optimal wrinkle smoothing for up to a year.
Since Juvéderm is a simple, nonsurgical wrinkle treatment, there is minimal recovery or downtime. You can make an appointment and have a treatment on the way home from work or the gym or even while the kids are at soccer practice. The procedure is quick and easy, usually taking about an hour.
Although anesthesia is not required, we may use topical or injectable anesthesia to numb the treatment area first. The gel is inserted under your skin to augment or fill wrinkles and folds. Following the injection, we may gently massage the treated areas.
With Juvéderm, there is minimal recovery or downtime. You may experience some slight bruising or discomfort following your treatment but can return to work and other activities shortly after.
For the first 24 hours following your procedure, you should avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sun or heat exposure, and consumption of alcoholic beverages. This helps minimize the risks of temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at the treatment sites. There may be some temporary injection-related reactions; redness, pain, firmness, swelling, and bumps. Studies show these conditions are usually mild to moderate in nature and resolve on their own in a week or so.
If you experience swelling at the injection site, you can apply an ice pack for a brief period. Since hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance, allergic reactions are extremely rare. However, if you notice any strange side effects or pain, please contact our office immediately.
