What is CoolSculpting Elite?

CoolSculpting Elite is currently the most popular non-surgical body contouring treatment available.

It works with the use of a specially-designed applicator that literally freezes away those stubborn pockets of fat that have resisted all attempts at dieting and exercise. CoolSculpting Elite allows you to target various areas of your body to create the contours you've been working hard to achieve. This treatment is safe, effective, and FDA-approved.

With the new Elite machines we can treat four areas simultaneously unlike our competitors. We have two elite machines that reduce treatment times by 80%. In addition, compared to the older, original CoolSculpting applicator, CoolSculpting Elite applicators are larger, allowing more surface area to be covered. Am I a good candidate for CoolSculpting Elite?

Your Goal Weight

The ideal candidate for Vancouver CoolSculpting Elite should be in good general health and 30 pounds or less away from their goal weight. It's also important to have good skin elasticity so your skin won't appear more lax as the fat melts away. If you are more than 30 pounds away from your goal, you can still try CoolSculpting, but it will be beneficial to diet and exercise in addition to the treatment. How does CoolSculpting Elite work?

Cell Cooling

CoolSculpting works by gently cooling the fat cells underneath the skin while leaving the skin and surrounding tissue unaffected. The fat cells then freeze and die in a process called apoptosis. In the weeks to months following the treatment the dead fat cells are naturally eliminated. White blood cells (macrophages) digest and consume the dead fat cells and the fatty acids (lipids) that were within the cells. You are left with a permanent reduction of fat cells that are gone for good. You will never “regrow” or regenerate fat cells and untreated areas will have no change.

What can I expect on my treatment day?

Treatment Preparation

When you first arrive for your appointment you will check in with our receptionist Kay and she will provide you with your consent forms to sign. While your paperwork is being signed our CoolSculpting Specialists and Registered Nurse will prepare the treatment room just for you. When the paperwork is finished you will be brought back to the treatment room. First, we begin with your “before” photos to track your progress.

After that the skin is cleansed and the treatment area is marked, a gel pad is then applied to the target area. As the procedure is initiated the vacuum applicator draws tissue onto the cooling panels. The applicator is then secured to ensure it does not move or pop off once the treatment is initiated. As the controlled cooling begins to target the fat cells you may experience sensations of intense cold, pulling, tugging, mild pinching, aching, cramping, stinging, or tingling. These sensations subside as the area becomes numb. No general or topical anesthesia or pain medication is required.

Immediately after the procedure the treatment area may look or feel stiff and be slightly red. This is a temporary but expected effect. After the applicator and gel pad are removed the provider will massage the area for two minutes. This leads to a 68% better reduction of fat cells. The massage tends to be the most uncomfortable part of the treatment for clients but it is necessary to effectively reduce the fat cells. It is described as a mild discomfort and rated no more than a 1 on a 0-10 pain scale. The procedure may take one to several hours or multiple visits depending on your treatment plan that is developed during your consultation. There is typically minimal recovery time after CoolSculpting Elite. Most patients return to their daily routine immediately after walking out our door.

CoolSculpting Elite Recovery

There is no invasive surgery involved with CoolSculpting Elite procedures. Because of this, treatment times are often short, with many clients scheduling appointments during their lunchtimes. You may experience some discomfort at the site of your treatment, such as itching, bruising, numbness, and minimal swelling, but these should not keep you from returning to your regular activities immediately afterward. Your results may start to become visible in as little as four weeks, with optimal results after 2-3 months. Keep in mind this depends on which area you have treated, as some can take up to 6 months to show the full results. CoolSculpting Elite does not have immediate results because it takes your body some time to naturally process and dispose of the destroyed fat cells. Fortunately, you will not feel any of the process, so be prepared to watch your body change.

Does CoolSculpting Elite hurt?

It can be described as a mild discomfort and rated no more than a 1 on a 0-10 pain scale. Sensations range from intense cold, pulling, tugging, mild pinching, aching, cramping, stinging, or tingling. These will subside as the treatment area becomes numb. When the treatment is complete and the tissue warms back up this can be described as having your bare hands outside in the cold or snow and then coming inside and washing your hands under warm water.
